Day #1 On A Green Smoothie Diet

Green Smoothie Diet Day 1: Greens are hard to love!
There was a time in my life I could relate to this statement. Now, after years of consuming a large portion of leafy greens daily I tend to disagree. I love greens and I love how I feel after eating them!

If you eat within our fast food environment our options are limited at to the type of fresh greens available. I find that in order for greens to taste fresh organic is the key. Greens need minerals in order to satisfy our palette and satiate our body. Greens grown in a non-organic environment lack the necessary minerals.

Blake likes to brag saying to his friends "My wife makes the best salads on the planet." I tell them the trick is in the fresh organic greens. Still I am not sure people can share in Blake's enthusiasm over a salad. Most people's experience of a salad is less than to be desired. In most everyday situations the dressing is the main focus of the salad, poured over the tasteless greens.

Why are fresh organic leafy greens so under appreciated and yet so important?:
During my years in school I learned about the 4 Basic Food Groups:

  • Dairy
  • Meats
  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Whole Grains
Today, the children are taught about the Food Pyramid:

Neither of these includes fresh leafy greens. Why?

It could be the stigma of leafy greens are "rabbit food" or the bitter flavor of the greens. It could even be the lack of money the government makes in animal and grain products vs. greens.

I say once wrong with "rabbit food"? Rabbits are kind and they will share, ha ha. I found that once you eat greens the bitter flavor is no longer there. The greens actually become sweet and salty. We are the people and what we want will sell. You can be involved in the political process just by purchasing what you want, what is best for your body and not what is taught with a hidden agenda. (I am still in my happy space.)

What do we eat instead?

We would rather eat the less nutrition part of the plant, the tubers, then the green tops of the plant. The greens have a bitter flavor while the tubers are sweet. The greens on the other hand have much more nutrients than the tubers and still we continue to consume more roots.

As you can see The beet greens have more the dense nutrition our bodies need for our health and function at our optimum. Also keep in mind scientist only know very little about what our bodies really need. From living in and observing the health and wellness of the people around me I can see what our body do NOT need.

Overcooked, fried, and processed foods, thoughts and disconnected emotions only seem to bring about unhealthy and unhappy beings. I know food is small in comparison to emotional wellness. Yet at the same time we are all connected to everything including the plants, animals and people. Ask yourself, "What can I do to bring vibrancy and well being into my world?" Then go from there.

Loving Myself On Day 1 Green Smoothie Diet

One thing I love about myself today on my green smoothie diet:
Even though I think I look best at 115lbs, I love that after having 5 children I still look fairly good in a bathing suit!

Mental Awareness, Emotional Wellness And Physical Wellness

Mentally I feel clear and able to write and work on my site.

Emotionally I am starting to feel drained like I am low but content. At times I feel out of sort almost like being in a bad mood.

Physically I feel tired. I remember last March when I did green smoothies for 30-days for the first week I felt tired, a bit angry and out of sorts.

Even though I eat 100% raw I also live in a city and breathe the not so clear air around me. I like to rest my body and eating a green smoothie diet is one way I free up my time and allow my body to rest from too much digestion.
