"I Hate Vegetables!"
Wait! What About Green Smoothies?
Green smoothies are the perfect solution if you, your child, husband or
friend hates green leafy vegetables and salads. Yes, you can be sneaky,
clever and play with your food by creating the best tasting smoothie
and adding a few leafy green vegetables. This may not sound like the
most honest approach to getting you or your loved ones to enjoy their
veggies but ithis is for the greater cause of health! lol
Green Smoothie Experiment
Let's say one day you decide to do a bit of an experiment a "blind" or
blueberry
taste testing to inspire a fresh approach with
yourself or another...
.
- You will need a blender or a high powered blender like a Vita Mix. They are the best read my Vitamix review!
- 1 fresh ripe banana, depending on how hungry you and they are.
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries or mixed berries per person
- 1 1/2 apple cut in half and corded per person
- 1/4 cup of fresh (preferably organic) spinach
- 1/4 cup of Water and Ice
- You want to start with a 1-2 fresh, ripe spotted bananas. Peel
and place them in the blender.
- Add 1 cup of frozen blueberries to the blender with the bananas.
- To begin with you want to add 1/4 cup of spinach per person, too
much and it won't be sweet enough and the most important part of your
experiment is that they love the flavor. In time you can increase the
amount of greens to 40%. That's 60% fruit and 40% green leafy
vegetables.
- Now to blend your green smoothies at 1/4 cup of water and a
handful of ice if you like. Blend. You want it to be creamy and to
taste so delicious they will want MORE!
- Pour it into a beautiful glass and serve. Feel free to add a
straw, especially for kids as most of them love straws.
If you are sharing this with another and they ask you "What is it?"
respond with enthusiasm, "It's a delicious blueberry smoothie I made
just for you!" If they ask what is in it you can list the fruits and
innocently;) omit the spinach, for experiment sake of course.
Make sure
you have a smoothie as well and enjoy yours. People tell me all the
time that Mitchel(11) and Carter(9) enjoy salads with such enjoyment
that it makes the salads look so delicious, they can't help themselves
but to want one too.
Now walk away for a moment as to not lead on any suspicion. Come back
in a minute and ask them how they enjoyed their smoothie. If they loved
it you can share your secret....
Green smoothies are only one way to get creative and play with your
food inspiring others to eat and love their vegetables!
