The Fruitarian Diet:
The other day I received another "juicy" question from a Raw Food Diet
Inspiration friend.
He asked "Can one live on fruit alone?" Now I am
not licensed to tell another person
what they can or cannot do however, I personally have and am currently
living on a primarily fruit based fresh raw food diet. Not only am I
enjoying this fresh, raw, low, fat, fruit based diet I am also training
for my first marathon and thriving like never before.
My average fruit and vegetable diet per day consists of:
For those on an 80/10/10 diet my calories may seem a bit low, 1300-1400 per day, but I am eating until full and I am feeling healthy and strong. I have dropped 20 lbs (from 130 to 110 pounds) and have gone from 30% body fat to 13% in 3 months. On fruit and vegetables I run 3 days a week for a total of 20-30 miles so far, as the amount of miles raises per week, I bike 3 days a week for a total of 60-70 miles per week, also raising per week, along with weight training 3 days and yoga one day.
The more intense my training becomes the more I feel strong and energetic I feel better than I ever have in my life as I enter my 40th year in October. I enjoy the flavor and freshness of eating a fresh fruit and vegetable based diet. My fat intake is low around 5% and my energy level is high.
After doing some research I came across another fruitarian diet advocate and athlete, Micheal Arnstein, who calls himself The Fruitarian. I have included a video of his story below:
Yes, after years of research on myself and witnessing others, I do believe it is possible to live on a fresh fruit (I would include greens as well) based diet and thrive!
