Eating out healthy is for most as a inconvenience or compromise to our "diet" plan or healthy lifestyle many of us are practicing. I have personally observe many who would rather compromise their health by eating something they normally wouldn't eat just to appease and/or not inconvenience anyone with their "special" requests.
However, think of the opportunity you are missing to allow the chef or cooks to get out of their box, their norm and get a bit wild and crazy creating you a wonderful dish perfect for you. You never know who you may inspire at the same time just by gifting others the opportunity to be creative and play with some fresh foods....
Over the past 3 months since we launched,
GoPlazy, I have been traveling all
over the Las Vegas valley, and soon elsewhere, attending all kinds of
networking, business opportunities and presenting Play IS The New
Way to promote GoPlazy to companies
and individuals. Because our culture tends
to mix socialization and food, most of these opportunities do connect
revolve
around food.
A couple of weeks ago I found myself in Lake Las Vegas as one of several presenters who will take part in inspiring retreats called The Learning Oasis, a conscious network of presenters dedicated to a purpose supporting and inspiring thousands of people from all walks of life to feel good NOW. Sorry I went off the subject I get so excited about play and inspiration... Anyway, after the brainstorming event we all headed over a 5 star restaurant there in Lake Las Vegas.

After looking over the menu a bit I realize there is nothing much I can enjoy eating from the menu that will support my body. This is a usual dilemma. Next thing I know the leader of The Learning Oasis who lives in Lake Las Vegas and is friendly with the chef, personally invites the chef to come over to our table. The chef kindly came over and introduced himself to us while everyone looked over there menus deciding what they would order.
While contemplating what alterations I could make to one of the salads on the menu to make sure I was still eating out healthy and raw for me to eat I got an idea. I could give the chef an opportunity to play around with some veggies and "create" a fun dish for my dinner. I walk over to him and asked him if he would be willing to create something special for me. He was incredibly sweet and agreed. I gave him some ideas as English was his second language, I said, "I am on a special diet I can only eat raw, fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables. Would you be willing to prepare a dish made with only FRESH, UNCOOKED, RAW fruits and vegetables?" He seemed very inspired as he kept repeating that I wanted nothing cooked and only fruits and vegetables.
I am always so excited on the few occasions I inspire the chef's to create a delicious new creation. Within 15 minutes the server brought out a beautifully presented array of fresh vegetables cut in various forms designed to inspire the taste buds on a large plate with beet dipping sauce (which I never ate because the garlic inside the sauce was roasted).
Now I am not sure if it was because I was soooo hungry but those vegetables were the best vegetables I had ever tasted in a restaurant. The vegetables tasted like they had come straight from the farmers market, fresh and tasty.
But wait! The fun didn't stop there. A sweet couple, Aime and
Steven,
I met at the event told me they are also on a healthy eating and living
path. Aime expressed to me that they had both settled (compromised)
their diet by just eating what was on the menu. Since they were sitting
at the opposite end of the large long table 10 of us they weren't
able to see what the chef had made especially for me.
After we were all complete with our meals and ready to leave, Aime expressed to me how much she missed her blender (left in back in LA) and her "green juice" which later I found was green smoothies. We both spoke of how much we would love to have a sweet green smoothie for dessert. All the sudden I realize I have a bunch of ripe bananas, mangoes and spinach in my car with my Vita Mix blender as well.
We were both so excited! I then offered to come up to their room and
make them green smoothies for dessert. That night we had a few hours of
fresh talk, green smoothies and fun created in their hotel room. After
showing the picture of my freshly made dinner to Aime, she was so
impressed. She now
understands that she does not have to compromise her lifestyle and can
enjoy eating
out healthy.
We were both so excited! I then offered to come up to their room and
make them green smoothies for dessert. That night we had a few hours of
fresh talk, green smoothies and fun created in their hotel room. After
