A raw food lifestyle is an easy diet because many times you are already eating the basic raw foods: bananas, apples, berries, celery, salad greens, etc.
Feel free to write down what you normally eat in a day. Now subtract the meats, cheeses, and breads, what you are most likely left with is the fresh whole foods you are already eating. Add a few more fresh foods, to the list of what foods you are already eating, and you have a great beginning for your new easy raw food diet.
Eating out on an easy raw food diet!
I went to Applebee's restaurant and ordered a salad with greens,
tomatoes, cucumbers, and onion. I found out they had pineapple and
fresh Pico De Gallo, PRESTO! I had a delicious raw foods salad.
Another evening some friends, my husband, and I went to P.F. Chang's. I brought a left over dressing and nut cheese from home. I ordered lettuce wraps, writing down all the fresh vegetables I wanted chopped (easy for the kitchen to follow my guidelines). They served me delicious wraps with lettuce leaves, fresh chopped vegetables and with the edition of my home made dressing and nut cheese, my experience could not have been easier or tastier.

Easy Raw Food Diet Journal
April 26
Day 8 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate: Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, macadamia &
almonds. Not more than a ¾ cup total.
64 oz. water
Large mixed green salad with Darlene’s creamy Italian dressing.
6 Clementine’s
2 banana’s
3 flax seed crackers
Emotionally: Excited. I got on the scale and had a nice loss. I also have my dehydrator in and I am going to use it today!!!
Physically: I stayed up too late last night, and I am feeling it. I am listening to my body and it is saying that I work best on a regular sleep schedule.
Mentally: I am jazzed today. I know weight is just a number, but it feels good to have my number 9 lbs. less than it was last week. It’s an encouragement to continue this healthy 90 day challenge.
One way I love myself today: Because I have a hunger to try something new. (My dehydrator).
Physical Activity: None.
Emotionally: It’s the start of a new work week. I am still feeling very positive vibes because of my 9 lb. loss. I am ready to take this week on!
Physically: I am feeling really good. I have a heart problem that I can’t spell. Paroxysmal atrial tachycardia. I haven’t had an episode since I started my challenge. I am looking forward to many more weeks without a breakthrough. With all this healthy food running through my system, I feel like I am doing great things for my heart.
Mentally: I didn’t mention this, but yesterday the bagels were calling to me from the pantry. I did not choose RAW for my children and have cream cheese and bagels for them for breakfast. I walked by the pantry a couple of times and they were just sitting there and I felt a pang of a craving. My body was remembering what if felt like to bight into a soft doughy bagel with lots of sweet cream cheese. I felt a couple of those pangs, in passing by the pantry. So, I shut the pantry door and was done with that. I guess a body does remember.
One way I love myself today: I loved myself today by taking a nice warm bath after my bike ride. I lit some candles and pulled out my bath pillow and read 12 Steps to RAW. (Until my 2 year old decided she needed a bath!) But it was a nice couple of minutes to myself, to enjoy my own company.
Physical Activity: I pulled my bike out for a 20 minute ride. I was winded but exhilarated when I got home. You forget what it’s like to ride if you’ve been off the bike for…years in my case; I was loving it! I bought a new bike last year with my income tax return and rode it home from the store. I hadn’t been on it since. Before that I was pregnant for 2 years straight, and didn’t want to take the risk of falling. So, I have renewed my joy of cycling! Huzzah!

Day 10 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate on my easy raw food diet:
Green Smoothie with spinach, frozen strawberries, frozen peaches &
1 cup water
Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds & almonds. Not more than a ¾ cup
total.
Large mixed green salad with Avo/orange dressing.
6 Clementine’s
Cashew nuts ½ cup
RAW lasagna with 2 garlic crackers
64 oz. water
Emotionally: I don’t know why, but I am having SAD cravings again today. Last week, I didn’t even think about SAD foods. It strikes me as odd that it is happening this week and not last week. I am trying to think of what might be bothering me, and I can only think of my oldest daughter. We are at ends with one another. Perhaps, last week I was so focused on making the change to RAW foods that I didn’t have much room for other thoughts, but this week life is stepping back in?
Physically: I am starting to feel that energy that comes with eating healthily. I like it. I am not super energized, but I do feel good. I still need to listen to my body and get more sleep. There is a spot on my knuckle on my left hand that has been rough and unsightly for a great many years. I asked a dermatologist about it once during an office visit and his response was that it was a sign that my body was building up an insulin resistance. This past week it has been kind of flaky so I buffed it with a pumice stone during my bath yesterday. Today it actually looks like it is going away. That is VERY COOL! Late in my afternoon I was feeling a little like I had low blood sugar going on…so I had a hearty dinner.
Mentally: I have ordered several books from Amazon.com and am looking forward to filling my head with more RAW data, and my belly with more RAW recipes!
One way I love myself today: I loved myself today by pulling out an outfit I bought myself when I went to Big Bear, CA with the kids during Easter weekend. It was a bit too snug when I tried it on when I got home from the trip. Well, since I lost 9 lbs. I decided to try it on again, and wore it to work today!
Physical Activity: I planned on some bike riding today, but child care didn’t work out like I planned. I have been given a trailer for my bike so I can take my kids with me, but I haven’t had the opportunity to go and pick it up yet. My friends that gave me the bike trailer live in North Las Vegas and I live in Henderson. Worlds apart it seems some days, but we’re in the same valley.

Day 11 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate on my easy raw food diet:
Green Smoothie with spinach, frozen peaches, 3 small bananas & 1
cup water
Cashews & almonds-not more than a ¾ cup total.
Large mixed green salad with Avo/orange dressing
Red & Green Grapes, a few baby carrots,1 banana, 3 Clementine’s
72 oz. water
Emotionally: Today is April 29, 2009. This past January, I switched my insurance to a different plan so that I could get the lap band procedure. I have been to the doctor once a month for several months, and tomorrow is the last day of this month. If I don’t schedule a dr. visit tomorrow, per my insurance requirements, I have to start the whole 6 months of doctor visits over again to be considered for approval for the lap band procedure. I did NOT schedule my appointment for tomorrow. I am feeling relieved to have made the choice to not do that horrible desperate thing to my body, and nervous that I will be the one that doesn’t loose any weight going RAW. I know I lost 9 lbs. the first week, but everybody looses weight the first week they change their eating habits. What if my weight loss slows to a snails crawl and…what if…you get the idea. I am filled with a little angst. Having been unsuccessful at so many attempts to loose weight, I can’t help but have these feelings. I just have to realize that this is different. This really is different. I am actually eating to live, not living to eat. I have removed all the foods that I consider addictive from my diet, and have found a way to break the addictive cycle I was in with food.
Physically: That RAW energy is finally coming to me. I’ve made several short walks out into the field today at work and didn’t feel like plugging along like I normally do. I felt the desire to really walk quickly, so I did. Not the usual me, I must say. I like the difference.
Mentally: I did the count down today in my planner to see how long I had before the 90 day raw challenge is completed for me. It is July 17, 2009. It is after my birthday, which is June 29, so I will have to find myself a RAW cake recipe! I guess knowing the end of one’s goal might be something to consider before accepting a challenge, but regardless of when I start, 90 days later I will be at the end of my challenge, so I guess it wasn’t too important to know at the beginning. Still, the journey to the end of my RAW challenge feels like a lot of change is coming my way. Positive change! And, I wonder…in 79 more days, it that going to be the end?
One way I love myself today: I love myself today because I am sticking to my goal of really focusing on my body and it’s changes. It has been such a long time since I was at a healthy weight, I can’t recall what it is like to not have a bunch of fat around my waist line. I am mentally projecting a flat stomach today. I am projecting how it will feel. I am excited to get to that place!
Physical Activity: I have done a lot of extra walking today.

Day 12 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate on my easy raw food diet:
Green Smoothie with spinach, mixed berries, 2 small bananas & 1 cup
water
Almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds-not more than a ¾ cup total.
Large mixed green salad with creamy Italian dressing, 3 flaxseed
crackers
A few baby carrots, 3 Clementine’s, 72 oz. water
Emotionally: I received a compliment. A co-worker of mine was out of the office when I started my RAW food challenge. She came back this morning and one of the first things she said to me was, “Your skin looks really clear!” That was some positive reinforcement right there!
Physically: I got my monthly bill today. What I notice is that I am not having the mood swings that I am used to around this time. Could it be the change in my dietary intake?
Mentally: I am kind of bugged out. There was no change on the scale this morning. One of those things I guess I fight. I should try and make it a rule to only get on once a week, and quit making it such a large part of my challenge.
One way I love myself today: I love myself because I can make a killer Creamy Italian Dressing. I LOVE it! (Of course it’s Darlene’s recipe!) I think I could eat it every day!
Physical Activity: 25 minutes of bike riding!
May 1
Day 13 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate on my easy raw food diet:
Green Smoothie with spinach, strawberries, 2 small bananas & 1 cup
water
Almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds-not more than a ¾ cup total.
Large mixed green salad with creamy Italian dressing, 3 flax seed
crackers
A few baby carrots, 3 Clementine’s, 72 oz. water
Emotionally: I am happy it’s Friday. I am feeling kind of wore out today and am ready to relax a little bit. Last night my ex was visiting the kids and had brought over some flavored popcorn and he wanted me to compare it to the stuff I usually buy. I refused and said I am RAW for 90 days, and he replied, one bite isn’t going to hurt you. So, I had to explain in detail my dedication to the challenge, and I prevailed against his temptations.
Physically: I am wondering if my “Saddle” area is ready for another bike ride today! Other than that, I am feeling pretty good.
Mentally: This is becoming more and more routine, and that just makes it kind of run of the mill cool. It really is an easy step to take, and makes so many changes. I am not part of the reason we are having a swine flu epidemic. I am not a purchaser of the meat from these horrible pig farms that don’t treat their animals humanely. That is a boost for my self image.
One way I love myself today: I love myself by being a good caretaker of the earth which God has provided me.
Physical Activity: None

Day 14 of my 90 Day Easy Raw Food Diet
Today I ate on my easy raw food diet:
Green Smoothie with spinach, peaches, 1 banana & 1 cup water
Almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds-not more than a ¾ cup total.
1 Cup of Curried Carrot Soup, 1 banana
A cup of baby carrots, & some of Darlene’s RAWnch dressing, 2
Clementine’s, 48 oz. water
Emotionally: I feel better about myself by involving all three of my kids in my activity.
Physically: I like to see my body responding to the physical exercise. It feels good to do something for my body. It was like I was starting to atrophy, and my body is waking up and adding more life to my LIFE!
Mentally: I am feeling positive and encouraged and ready for another week to come my way.
One way I love myself today: I loved myself by trying a new recipe. I added too much cayenne pepper and I can hardly eat it, but it was fun to experiment and try something new. I’ve only had one other cold soup, and it tasted like salsa to me. This was much better.
Physical Activity: Bike ride with my two little one’s in tow in the bike carrier. We rode up to Fresh & Easy and loaded up the carrier with groceries using our reusable grocery bags! The extra weight made a difference on my legs! Whew!
