Blake and I love the flavor of fresh Organic Raw Sun Cured Whole Vanilla Bean Powder – 4 oz. We add it to most of our raw smoothies and shakes. I’ve also found frozen bananas to be the perfect substitute for ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Organic bananas are also very inexpensive ranging around $1.20 for 4 and are a natural simple sugar and easily digest within 1 hour if eaten with other simple sweets. You may also add any other fresh fruits and/or organic fresh leafy greens for added nutrition.

My favorite vanilla banana smoothie/shake recipe starts with 4 basic ingredients:

  • 4 tiny scoops of Stevia powder (180mg)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of raw vanilla bean powder
  • 1 date
  • 4 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup water

Blended until creamy smooth.

Most of the time I love to add 2 cups of spinach. Spinach is a great green to start start with and add to any banana smoothies because it is sweet and rarely adds much flavor. Other times I may add other fresh or frozen fruit. Remember when adding fresh fruit, if you want it to remain thick, decrease the amount of water.

Start by adding the fresh fruit first and then add all the rest of the ingredients EXCEPT the water, blend and then only add water if needed a tiny bit at a time. Fresh greens will also add water content, add them first also. If your using a Vitamix your smoothie/shake will blend quickly and easily, less time will be needed to blend.
